Abstract
In this paper, numerical method is adopted to investigate the influence of honeycomb casing and honeycomb tip on the tip leakage flow and associated loss in a turbine cascade. Results show that, compared to the turbine cascade with conventional tip structure, both honeycomb casing and honeycomb tip have inhibiting effect on tip leakage flow, and the leakage flows are reduced by 52% and 8.2% respectively. Honeycomb casing has large contact area between honeycomb cavities and main flow, which causes additional loss, and results in a 2.66% rise in loss. Honeycomb tip has smaller contact area, which means a less effect on passage flow and causes the loss reduced by nearly 1.87%.
