Influence of amplitron operating mode on harmonic levels

The levels of harmonics in the output amplitron spectrum in the whole working section of VA characteristics are theoretically studied in a wide input power range of the main signal. Their behaviour is studied at varied static magnetic field induction and total current pick-off from the cathode. The results obtained shown that the selection of the magnetron amplifier operating mode with the lower-lying harmonic level is accompanied by degradation of the amplitron operating parameters at the main signal frequency. Increasing current pick-off from the cathode, the main signal characteristics can be improved along with elevation of the harmonic level.
