Improved image mosaics algorithm based on 8-parameter perspective transformation

Abstract

An improved algorithm for image mosaics is presented in this paper. The improved algorithm based on the principle of 8-parameter perspective transformation, which the relationship between two overlapping image can be described by a planar perspective motion model. At the same time, the method improves the 8-parameter perspective transformation; uses robust RANSAC algorithm to remove the false feature points (FP), and makes use of Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm to estimate the transformation parameters between two images. The experiment shows that the new method significantly improves the accuracy of model parameters.
