Abstract

Alignment between information systems (IS) strategy and business strategy has been identified as a significant factor enhancing organizational success. Drawing upon the extant literatures, this study develops a theoretical model to examine the impact of IS-Business strategic alignment and environmental uncertainty on Enterprise Systems assimilation. We collected 101 valid data cases from 153 firms in China and used Structural Equation Model (SEM) technique to examine the research model. The empirical results suggest that IS-Business strategic alignment is a critical driver of Enterprise Systems assimilation, and environmental uncertainty positively moderates the relationship between IS-Business strategic alignment and Enterprise Systems assimilation. Our study contributes to the extant literatures in both IS-Business strategic alignment and Enterprise Systems success.
