It significantly impacts the water conservancy, hydro-power and transportation that can cause causalities and loss of property. Therefore, the continuous detection for the ice thickness of the frozen river and mastering the rule of the ice structure are important. In this paper, a type of fixed position hanging ice thickness detection radar equipment is designed with the auto horizontal layer tracing technology combined to realize efficient and rapid measurement of ice thickness. This equipment provides the basic data of generating and melting process of river's ice in winter and spring.",
