Abstract
As a kind of new lateral load resistance member, steel plate shear wall (SPSW) connected with frame beams only has high bearing capacity, good ductility, excellent energy dissipation capacity and so on. As the shear walls are not connected to the frame columns, the premature failure, overall buckling or local buckling of the columns can be prevented. In addition, the structural stiffness and load-carrying capacity can be adjusted by changing the size or the number of shear walls. In this paper, the hysteretic behavior of this kind of SPSW is analyzed based on FEA software ANSYS. Also, the influence of shear wall span-to-width ratio and width-to-thickness ratio is studied. According to the analysis result, the simplified skeleton curve and the hysteretic model are suggested. Based on the comparison between simplified model results and the experimental results, the hysteretic model is verified to be the effective method to simulate the SPSW in the further research of structure systems using SPSW connected with frame beams only.
