Abstract

BaTi5O11 fibers were fabricated by a hydrothermal synthesis process and were characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis and scanning electron microscopy. The fibrous precursor was sintered at 800 °C, 900 °C, 1000 °C and 1200 °C for 4 h, the formation of BaTi5O11 depended greatly on the compositional homogeneity of the precursor, the higher the degree of compositional homogeneity, the greater the amount of BaTi5O11 formed. The stability of BaTi5O11 was also affected by temperature, at 900 °C, both BaTi5O11 and BaTi4O9 increased with calcination temperature. Above 900 °C, the content of BaTi5O11 started to decrease and that of BaTi4O9 increased.
