Abstract

A novel indium phosphite, In 2(HPO 3) 3(H 2O) was hydrothermally prepared and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The structure of the compound consists of In 2O 10 dimer and pseudo pyramidal HPO 3, which are connected by sharing vertexes to form the 3D inorganic framework with a In/P ratio of 2/3. In 2(HPO 3) 3(H 2O) is the first indium phosphite synthesized by hydrothermal technique. Presence of the In-O-In linkage leading to a In 2O 10 dimer in the framework is a noteworthy feature. It was characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, ICP, elemental analysis and IR spectra.
