Abstract

The 3-D linear time domain hydroelastic theory is developed in this paper. A kind of 3-D nonlinear time domain hydroelastic analysis method of ship motions and wave loads in the regular wave is given with the nonlinear factors considering the instantaneous position variation of body surface, the incident wave force, restoring force and the slamming force. From the comparison between the calculated results considering these different nonlinear factors and experimental results, the effect of these nonlinear factors on load responses and each mode in various load cases is analyzed. It is indicated that the effect of nonlinear factors should be considered in different case, and the necessary and importance of nonlinear method are verified.
