Hydro-joining assembled hollow camshaft and its joining strength measurement

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The principle of hydro-joining was introduced in the paper. By using the low carbon steel tube, medium carbon steel cams and journal rings, an assembled hollow camshaft for a 6-cylinder diesel engine was developed. In addition, the measurement of static torque resistance and fatigue strength between the tube and cam lobes were presented to verify the camshaft performance. It is shown that the assembled hollow camshaft manufactured by hydro-joining satisfies the demands of service performance.
