Abstract
A new auto-pilot design approach is presented for the atmospheric interceptor controlled by the combination of lateral jet thrusters and aerodynamic surfaces. Considering the discrete property of the lateral pulse jet thrusters and the continuous property of the aerodynamic fins, we design a hybrid control system. A continuous closed-loop system with the aerodynamic fin as control variable is first designed. A sampled-data closed-loop control system with the lateral pulse jet thrusters as control variable is then designed based on the continuous closed-loop system. Both stability and performance are analyzed in each step in the design process. Numerical simulation shows the effectiveness of the presented approach.
