N2 - In this paper, a cascade isolated bidirectional converter is designed based on the dual active bridge circuit. The converter expands the voltage gain and improves the transmission efficiency while maintaining the wide soft switching range of the DAB converter, the performance when the voltages are mismatched is improved, and the power loss can be reduced significantly. In this study, a detailed theoretical analysis of the circuit modes is carried out. The soft-switching range and the power loss of the converter are accurately calculated. And a design method of planar transformer is proposed to reduce losses and improve power density. Simulation and experimental results show that the circuit can achieve soft switching and reduce power loss.
