Abstract
A high quality factor infrared notch filter with compact electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) structure is demonstrated theoretically and experimentally. The design process is carried out by using flowchart and finite-difference time-domain numerical method. The numerical quality factors of the notch filter are 2634 and 2462 at incident angles of 0° and 5° respectively. Heat power density distributions of the filter are also calculated to interpret the physical mechanism. A filter sample is fabricated and measured to verify the theoretical results.
