Heat transfer and solidification behavior of superalloy droplets during spray forming

Abstract

A mathematical model was established to calculate the velocity, heat transfer coefficient, temperature, solid fraction and cooling rate of atomizing droplets with various droplet sizes and flight distances for a superalloy. The changing trend and mechanism were described and analyzed. The effects of atomizing pressure and superheating on such parameters were discussed.
