Abstract

The harmony level of the intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and socioeconomic development provides reference for ITS construction investment. As the ITS and socioeconomic development data are nonparametric, the data envelopment analysis (DEA) is introduced to assess the harmony level of ITS and socioeconomic development. Based on the characteristics of transportation system and socioeconomic system, the original index system framework is proposed to evaluate the harmony level of the two parts. In view of the requirements of DEA method and the collectability of related data, several key indices are selected from the original index system framework and a final assessment indicator system is established. The field data of Beijing city are used to validate the feasibility of the evaluation methodology and model. Validation results show the relationship of ITS and socioeconomic development in Beijing and provide some suggestions for improving ITS construction.
