Abstract

Impedance modeling of modular multilevel converters (MMC) has attracted extensive research in recent years. Many modeling methods have been proposed to model MMC. To simplify the analysis, these methods ignore the internal impedance of AC and DC grid connected to MMC. However, ignoring these impedances will seriously affect the impedance characteristics of MMC, resulting in an inaccurate model. In this paper, a modified model based on harmonic state space (HSS) method is proposed, which can reflect the influence of arbitrary AC and DC grid impedance on MMC. This method improves the accuracy of the model and provides theoretical basis for impedance analysis when MMC connected to any other equipment. Finally, simulation results validate the theoretical analysis.
