Abstract

Intelligent sensing is a cross-discipline topic that joins research on the basic theory and technology of signal acquisition, information abstraction, data communication, and system control. Intelligent sensing technology has been driven by innovative sensing electronics, computational intelligence algorithms, and real-world application requirements. Sensing modules are the front-end devices for information acquisition from the natural and/or artificial world. The combination of hardware sensing modules and computational intelligence algorithms makes the sensing systems adaptable to the environment and optimizes system performance. Intelligent algorithms play a crucial role in reducing the workload of the sensing modules and the overall system by extracting necessary information from the sensing components and transmitting the useful information to the system.
