Gossip based distributed power control algorithm for 5G ultra dense networks

Abstract

Ultra dense network (UDN) can satisfy the explosive data rate demand in 5G with the high frequency reuse and dense deployment of small-cell base stations (BSs). However, the co-channel interference arised from the aforementioned properties influences the performance of the communication system severely. In this paper, a gossip based distributed power control (GBDPC) algorithm is proposed to overcome the co-channel interference in UDNs in a distributed manner. The proposed algorithm utilizes a broadcast gossip method to realize a consensus with the received SINR values from all the BSs in a digraph communication topology distributedly. The stability and convergence rate of the GBDPC algorithm are investigated by quadratic Lyapunov functions. The simulation results verify the theoretical analysis, and the further investigation shows the promotion on the rate of convergence when the connection weight factor is set to approximate the maximum out-degree of the digraph.
