Abstract
This paper discusses the global well-posedness of the initial value problem for a mathematical model proposed by Hirota and Satsuma. In order to derive the global well-posedness we employ Kato's theory for abstract evolution equations together with some delicate a priori estimates obtained by using harmonic analysis techniques.
