Generating X band bessel beam carrying OAM mode utilizing metasurface integrated with SIW source

Abstract

How to generate a high-order Bessel beam with orbital angular momentum (OAM) has recently attracted lots of attentions. In this paper, a reflective system is presented to generate the high-order Bessel beam. The generator includes three parts: a reflective metasurface for providing phase compensations to form the high-order Bessel beam and changing the polarization mode of electromagnetic wave to make it be capable of passing through the polarized plate, a SIW source integrating with the metasurface providing a linear polarized wave, and a polarized plate to reflect the linear polarized wave generated from SIW source. Through the full wave simulation, the metasurface can realize a cyclic phase shift, And the reflective system is proven to be capable of generating the high-order Bessel beam in X band. This design features an achievement of size reduction, wide band and low cost.
