abstract = "The conventional finite element reliability method seldom considers the fuzzy uncertainty and the interval variables. In this paper, an interval Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) and an interval first order reliability method (FORM) implementing finite element methods (FEM) are developed to analyze a specific fuzzy reliability problem with fuzzy failure criteria and random variables with interval parameters. To examine the performance of the presented method, a truss structure is used as the numerical example. The results show that the interval failure probabilities by use of the two methods are quite close, while the interval FORM is more efficient than the interval MCS.",
