Abstract
The fracture characteristic of an aluminum borate whisker-reinforced aluminum alloy 6061 was investigated. The results show that the T4 treatment has an optimal effect on tensile properties of this composite, while the degree of the interfacial reaction increases with the treatment time increasing. The origin, the configuration, the density and the distribution of subcracks on the sides of fracture surfaces as well as the main crack are corresponding to the mechanical of the composite, and also have a relationship with the interface reaction degree.
