Abstract

This paper discusses the feasibility of formation reconfiguration hovering while the follower satellite loses the along-track thrust. We derive the feasible set of the initial position, while the existing techniques only give the feasible set of the desired positions. Then a new dynamics decomposition form is proposed, and the underactuated controller is designed by using the sliding mode control technique. The Lyapunov-based analysis shows that the system state will converge to the desired state in finite time. The simulations also verify the validity of the designed controller.
