Abstract
This study examines the relationship between foreign ownership or shareholding and operating performance of listed firms in Chinese stock market. Considering the influence of stock market cycles, further investigation is conducted to inspect how the relationship change in different stock market stages. Our findings prove that operating performance is positively and significantly correlated with foreign ownership in Chinese A-share market as that in many other stock markets. Further empirical analysis indicates that correlative directions are different for different stock market stages.
