Abstract

To better utilize polyurethane and XPS (Expanded Polystyrene) sandwich panels with good thermal insulation widely used as roof panels and wall panels in practical engineering, a design formula is presented with the method of finite element analysis. Based on the polyurethane and XPS material experiments, and bending experiments of 72 sandwich panels, the bending capacity and deflection of these sandwich panels were analyzed by the finite element method (FEM); and then the deformation mechanism of sandwich panels was studied by theoretical derivation; finally, the design formula of roof panel and wall panel was given. The comparison between experimental results and calculation results of the presented desing formula verifies the validity of the design formula.
