Finite element analysis of whirlwind cutter of NC heavy crankshaft milling-turning combined machine tool

Abstract

According to the structure characteristics of whirlwind cutter of NC heavy crankshaft milling-turning combined machine tool, a 3D model of whirlwind cutter was established using UG; the oil film stiffness of constant flow delivery oil hydrostatic guideway of whirlwind cutter was calculated; then, finite element models of whirlwind cutter were built by means of software ANSYS and the static and modal analysis were done, through which the stress distribution figures, structural deformation figures, the first six natural frequencies and vibration modes were obtained. Consequences analyses were carried out and the results show that whirlwind cutter has good static and dynamic characteristics and can meet the design requirements. Besides, the structure weak links of whirlwind cutter were pointed out, which provides reference data for further optimization design.
