Abstract

This presentation reports the development of an integrated hand-held device with a microchip capillary electrophoresis-contactless conductivity detection system for on-site monitoring of chemical warfare agents (CWA). This device consists of a microcontroller system and a disposable polycarbonate microchip with an integrated contactless conductivity detector (CCD). It has been tested and shown to be capable of separating and detecting a mixture of metal ions and CWA degradation samples. The swab samples of the CWA degradations have been collected and detected as real environmental tests. Several nerve agents such as GB and GD have been successful fingerprinted with a short time by the analysis of their degradations products.
