Abstract

Based on the analysis of power loss model, it is pointed out that the power loss is contributed mainly by the parameters including transversal error, terminal and angular errors. A new fiber alignment method based on integration of micro-vision and optical power detection is presented. The coarse adjustment is implemented through precision parallel robot and the precision transversal error is adjusted by a 5 DOFs precision robot actuated by PZT. Precise and fast search of the extremum region of power loss can be realized through an optimal design strategy. Experiments show that after coarse adjustment, the average coupling power loss is 0.3 db, and it is less than 0.02 db after precision adjustment and fusion.
