Abstract

Traditional sand cone method is time-consuming and laborious for the detection of compaction degree. However, PFWD has the advantages of rapid, non-destructive testing, which has been widely concerned by the railway and highway departments. The relationship between compaction degree and deformation modulus Evd was established to put forward the corresponding Evd values of different compaction degrees. A typical road section was chosen for testing to evaluate the compaction quality. The contour model of the deformation modulus was established on semi-rigid base by Matlab software, and the area ratio was introduced to evaluate the compaction qualification rate. Results indicate that the correlation between compaction degree and deformation modulus Evd is good. PFWD can quickly and effectively evaluate the compaction state of semi-rigid base.
