Abstract

The polarization states of electromagnetic (EM) waves can be effectively manipulated through reflections by a Faraday chiral medium (FCM) reflector, and an arbitrary polarization conversion is feasible via adjusting constitutive parameters of the FCM. Reflection formulas of the FCM reflector are rigorously derived, and the deep mathematical analysis is conducted to propose approaches of manipulating polarization states of the reflected wave and realizing polarization conversion. Numerical results are obtained in this paper and compared with theoretical predictions - a good agreement is found.
