Abstract
The novel Mn2O3 nanocubes were first fabricated by one-pot hydrothermal method. The microstructure and crystal type of the as-prepared Mn2O3 were characterized by XRD, XPS, SEM and TEM analyses. Results showed that the Mn2O3 nanocubes were cubic bixbyite with side length ranging from 65 to 103 nm. Interestingly, the Mn2O3 nanocubes exhibited strong absorption to ultraviolet light as well as visible light, achieving 94.7% and 85.4% removal of ciprofloxacin and total organic carbon (TOC) respectively under simulated sunlight irradiation for 90 min. The Mn2O3 nanocubes would be a good candidate for persistent contaminants degradation by photocatalysis.
