Abstract

The excitation controller of synchronous generator is designed based on the extenics theory in order to overcome the shortcomings of generic control methods. The error of reference voltage and generator's voltage and its derivative are chosen as controller's characteristic variables, and classical-universe and extension-universe are obtained according to actual power system. Then the correlative value is calculated, the estimation mode is identified and the control strategy is determined. The three-order simulation model of a single-machine infinite-bus system is founded considering nonlinear characteristic of synchronous generator and a MATLAB S-function procedure is written to realize extension control strategy. The simulation results indicate that the extension excitation controller can improve power system stability for both a small signal and a big disturbance compared to conventional PID (prportional-integral-derivative) controller.
