Experimental study on the thixoforming of high silicon-aluminum alloy and its application in automobile piston

Abstract

In this paper, a research of semi-solid thixoforming technology of automobile piston with high silicon aluminum alloy made by spray deposition has been made. The test equipment and the forming process are introduced. According to the test results, the optimum parameters of forming process and heat treatment are obtained. The formability of semi-solid alloy and the change of microstructure have been studied by density measurement and microstructure observation.
