abstract = "Seals play an important role in gas and steam turbines, avoiding leakage and improving the energy transfer efficiency. Labyrinth seals (LS) were widely used in the past century. While it's sealing performance and rotordynamic characterstics are limited in current industry. In this paper, two novel labyrinth seals, named diaphragm labyrinth seal (DLS) and hole diaphragm labyrinth seal (HDLS), are tested in the seal-rotor system. The amplitudes of the novel labyrinth seal-rotor systems decreases by more than 16\%, than traditional labyrinth seal, when passing the critical state. Complex nonlinear vibration phenomena can be observed near the critical speed. An abnormal local fractional subharmonic frequency is also presented in HDLS-rotor system, which verifies the calculation results before. The advantage of HDLS is proved again by experimental tests, which present a promissing way to the industial upgrading in gas and steam turbines.",
