Abstract
To improve the seismic resistance of reinforced concrete masonry shear wall structure, 7 pieces of restraint flange members and 1 piece of flange member without restraint were tested under axial compression load. The confined reinforced bars were located in the block wall. The design of these pieces is based on considering the volume reinforcement ratio, the type and space of reinforcement. Results of the experiment indicate that the bearing capacity and the ultimate deformation capacity of the restraint flange member are improved greatly. The failure model is efficiently improved. Based on the calculation method of the confined concrete's ultimate compression strength, the calculation formula of the compressive strength of the restraint flange member is offered.
