Abstract

An analytical model to describe the temperature field was established for laser bending of sheet metal. In order to analyze the forming rule of the change to different parameters, a simulation software was programmed by the finite element analysis software, and the experiments were done. The results show that the bending angles change with the thickness of sheet metal, the width of sheet metal, the laser power and the focus diameter or scanning speed if others factors remain unchanged. In addition sheet metal will bend deviating from the laser beam if there is a big thickness or a high scanning speed.
