Abstract

In order to measure and study electricity-generating performance of a piezoelectric ceramics(PEC), a measuring system for electricity-generating capacity of the PEC was developed. A piezoelectric cantilever was designed and analyzed with finite element analysis(FEA), its conductance was measured using an impedance analyzer. The energy storing circuit was designed, the experimental study was carried out in low frequency. The results showed that the output voltage and power were maximum at the resonance frequency. The output voltage of the piezoelectric cantilever increased with the resistance load. The voltage approached 7V when the resistance load was 50 kΩ. Neverthless, the electrical power decreased when the load resistance was further increased. A maximum output power about 1.4 mW could be obtained from the piezoelectric cantilever at the resonance frequency across a resistance load of 15 kΩ, this power level was already enough for some wireless communication systems.
