Experimental study of tilting pad journal bearing-rotor system with acoustic emission technique

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The performance characteristics including pressure distribution and vibration of four tilting pads bearing-rotor system were experimentally studied. The acoustic emission (AE) technology was used to investigate the impact between the pad and the shaft while the shaft is rotating. The pressure distributions indicated the film shape of different pads. The major finding was to know how the tilting pad bearing-rotor system worked with impact phenomenon and to propose a method for identifying the occurrence and position of the impact by employing the AE technique.
