Experimental study and demonstration of a high efficiency tunable Ti:sapphire laser

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

In this paper a high efficiency tunable Ti:sapphire laser pumped by a frequency- doubled Q-switched Nd:YAG laser emitting at 532 nm at a repetition rate of 10 Hz was demonstrated. By using a dense flint glass prism as dispersion element, a tuning range from 735 to 860 nm with a linewidth of 2 nm (FWHM) was achieved. At an incident pump energy of 40 mJ the maximum output energy was 6.75 mJ at 800 nm with a pulse width of 20.9 ns (FWHM). A slope efficiency of 41.1% from the frequency-doubled Q-switched Nd:YAG pump laser to the Ti:sapphire laser at 800 nm was achieved.
