Abstract

Internal curing is a commonly used measure to solve the problem of autogenously shrinkage of concrete. A kind of super absorbent polymer is used in cement mortar and concrete. The results indicate that water saturated SAP can reduce the autogenously shrinkage to a considerable extent. It is because saturated SAP offers water resource to cement hydration, and the self-desiccation could be mitigated. The workability, especially water retention of concrete can be improved. In the hardened concrete the saturated SAP leaves comparatively regular close pores, the compressive strength is lowered.
