Abstract
The scuffing behavior of M50 steel in sliding/rolling lubrication was studied. Oil supply load pressure was monitored to ensure full lubrication. Scuffing occurred in two strip-shaped tracks of the elliptical contact area in sliding/rolling. There was an evident damaged zone in the surface along the sliding direction. Two deep scores showed that scuffing failure took place. Scuffing track in the small disk surface was very closer with the big one in width and depth. The center area showed that it is mainly seizure and tearing. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the Proceedings of World Tribology Congress (Kyoto, Japan 9/6-11/2009).
