Abstract

Modal density is basic requirement for the analysis of vibro-acoustic problem by means of the statistical energy analysis. For simple structures, modal densities are obtained by theoretical solutions, but the modal densities of complex structures or structures with compound material characteristics can be hardly received from theoretical solutions or the solutions are inaccuracy. Therefore, experimental method is needed to identify modal densities. This paper describes on driving point admittance method for studying aluminum honeycomb sandwich panel which are hung. The experimental results are compared with empirical value, and the results are in fairly good agreement. The experimental identification of modal density of new complex materials based on statistical energy analysis is verified.
