Abstract

In order to measure and evaluate aggregates surface texture quantitatively, and make a further study of asphalt mixture performance influenced by aggregates surface texture, laser profilometer was designed based on reflective fiber senor method. Six kind of aggregates surface textures were measured directly by this instrument. It was found that measurement results of surface texture were inaccurate because of ununiformity of aggregate surfaces color. When aggregate surfaces were plated by aluminum film, measurement results accorded with real condition of surface texture. Finally, roughness of aggregates surface texture was evaluated quantitatively by arithmetical mean deviation and average wave length respectively.
