Abstract

Laser polarization imaging using streak tube laser imaging system is an extension of the existing streak tube laser 3D imaging. Adding polarization information to the intensity and range information, highly accurate detection and identification of targets can be achieved. The primary study of streak tube laser polarization imaging was experimentally demonstrated. The two measurement methods had been proposed. By processing the streak tube images of several special targets, intensity image and degree of polarization image could be obtained and compared. The results show that the degree of polarization image has better contrast than intensity image, and overcome the drawback of the irradiation nonuniformity. Polarization imaging was proved to be available in the streak tube laser imaging system, which has a good performance. The combination of intensity image and degree of polarization image would be a choice for more accurate detection.
