Abstract
Based on the method evaluating the low temperature performance of SBS modified asphalt at present, the glass transition temperature Tg was recommended to appraise the low temperature performance of styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) modified asphalt. Then, the relevant test equipments-dynamic shear rheometer and test methods were introduced. Furthermore, Tg values of seven SBS modified asphalts were tested by dynamic shear rheometer and the results were validated by the low temperature performance of modified asphalt mixture. The result indicates that Tg has a clear physical meaning, handy test method and good relation to the results of asphalt mixture. So Tg is proper to evaluate the low temperature performance of SBS modified asphalt.
