Abstract
We designed and fabricated highly textured Bi5Ti3Fe1-xCoxO15 (BTFCO-x; x = 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4) ceramics by a template grain growth (TGG) method. The textured BTFCO ceramics show the enhanced ferroelectric properties with typical ferromagnetism at room temperature. The remanent polarization (Pr) and remanent magnetization (Mr) are 19.0 μC/cm2 and 107.5 memu/g, respectively. The textured BTFCO ceramics process the largest piezoelectric coefficient d33 of 36.8 pC/N. Compared with pure Bi5Ti3FeO15 (BTFO) ceramics, the textured BTFCO ceramics exhibit no significant decrease in ferroelectric Curie temperature (TC∼750 °C). The texturization technology and Co element modification provide feasible methods to improve the multiferroic properties of BTFO-based ceramics and demonstrate the possibility for practical applications.
