Abstract

We present a service model and a performance model for network with coding-aware based on network calculus. Firstly, we characterize the network with coding as a server curve, which is different to the idea of modeling it as a traffic curve; then we give the performance model based on the theorems. Combined with coding structure which represents coding opportunity, an end-to-end service model is obtained, which can formalize network coding opportunities dynamically, rather than use the static assumption on it. The applications demonstrate that traffic end-to-end performance based on our service model can be obtained and is indispensable to trade-off between capacity and performance while coding opportunities are deliberately created.
