Abstract

The elementary theory of optical information processing was reanalyzed by using wavelet theory. First, wavelet theory was used to reanalyze the Huygens-Fresnel principle, then an idea of wave-front filtering was proposed, the foundation of wavelet optics theory was established preliminarily. Based on the theory, phenomenon of optical diffraction of single slit, round aperture, grating, etc., were analyzed according to the idea of wave-front filtering. The filtering in spatial domain, spatial frequency domain and a system of optical imaging were also analyzed. The results show that using the method of wavelet analysis to study the problems of optical information processing is feasible and it is more accordant with reality.
