Abstract

A reconfigurable rectangular dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) using modified cross-slot feed to obtain switchable polarization is proposed. The proposed antenna employs electronically changing the lengths of slots to generate and alter left/right handed circular polarizations and vertical linear polarizations, respectively. By designing the structure parameters of the DRA properly, wide bandwidth can be obtained under certain state for the resonance fusion of slot and DR. Simulation results are presented for the combination of switches on and off, while maintaining a reasonable impedance match, which successfully demonstrates polarization agility.
