Electronic ballast based on half-bridge dual Buck converter

Abstract

Low-frequency square-wave driving mode is the most effective method to eliminate acoustic resonance in low power metal halide lamp electronic ballast at present. This paper proposes a half-bridge dual Buck quasi-square-wave resonant converter in which all semiconductor switches operate under ZVS. It is made into 70 W MH lamp electronic ballast and satisfies the needs of MH lamp lighting.
